I’m excited! I received my first phishing call today 😉
I received a call from a hidden number, picked up the phone and heard a message in English saying something like:
“Congratulations! You just have won a free Caribbean cruise! To reclaim your prize, press 9. That’s the nine-key on your telephone.”
My reaction was to immediately hang up the phone! I should have to wait without pressing the magic-key! I’m living in Belgium and the message was pronounced with a US accent. How this computer called me? Randomly generated phone number? What if I pressed the nine key? I suppose another message would have asked me to call a high-rate number… (09xx).
I googled for more info and I found the same story reported in 2005! Amazing…
