Today, I decided to upgrade my Linksys access point firmware…
The main goal was to increase the transmission power!
I successfully upgraded my WAP54G with a MustDie firmware:
Firmware Version v2.07, Apr 08, 2004; MustDie revision 1
The firware is available here
To upgrade the firmware, first go to: http://your.ap.ip/fw-conf.asp and disabled options “firmware header” and “downgrade header”.
Then, backup your config (we never now 😉 and upgrade the firmware. Once rebooted, you should be able to re-login onto the box.
I changed my transmitter power from 22 (default) to 48 and it seems to be enough to cover the whole house.
