I just read on a Belgian news website that >6 billions millions of eID cards have already been distributed to Belgian citizens (that >70% of the population) but 50% don’t see any advantage in this “piece of plastic”.
I got mine in May and, to be honest, I still never used it… Some administrations have problems with their card reader and personal reader @ home are very deployed.

Though Belgium is quite densely populated, there are no 10 Billion inhabitants living on those lovely 30000 square kilometers by the North Sea 🙂 but only about 10 Million (of which apparenlty 1.5 million children under the age of 12, who are not obliged to have an ID card and have it with them at all times, if I calculated correctly)
