A new website opened yesterday: monitoringforge.org. The purpose is to centralize in one place a lot of open source monitoring tools, going from full monitoring suite to simple scripts ready to use in your daily job.
I found this a very good initiative. Why? When we speak about “security”, we often refer to the CIA-triad. Security must take care of “confidentiality”, “integrity” and “availability”. Availability, that’s where monitoring tools are important.
When I visited the brand new site, I immediately saw a touch of Groundwork (same look & feel) but, hopefully, the site will try to stay independent and will welcome all projects around monitoring. Even Groundwork competitors are present (like Zenoss).
