Unix was, and still is, a way of life
Keeping and mainainig things clean
A philosophy about small things that together make one big system
The beauty of spartan simplicity
The first widely used multitasking and multiuser system.
The bricks that built internet
The spirit of sharing, of reusing
The spirit that created The Free Software Movement.
Today blinded minds think that profit is over everything
Didnt they know what were the roots of all the technology they use
Perhaps they think they _own_ php, phyton or apache? even worse,
think they they _own_ or they deserve, in their mean minds, Linux or GNU they
run on their ISP’s, on their mailservers, etc. ?? no. simply, they could say
it’s there and we use it. (they could even finish, “you poor looser geeks dont
know about money, do you”)
They keep their mean song, “if it doesn’t make profit, it can’t exist”
And it seems there is not place for one of the last great servers, in
modern cyberspace.
Cyberspace full of crap, ads, comercial crap, even more crap, sellers of smoke,
idle minds, idle servers without users, systems without reason, bandwidth
wasted in terabytes of nothing going to nowere.
and there is no place for a shell
for an spartan, clean, useful unix shell.
a place where one could test the connections, a php function, or simply
read mail using pine, because mail read with pine seems like worthy mail
for a unix lover.
it seems that, even when there is the miracle of Free Software, it will not
be, free hardware or free bandwidth.
so, be sure with bob dylan that “the times they are a’ changing” and even
“and it’s a hard rain’s a-gonna fall.”
